Lapidus Pour Homme was launched in 1987 and composed by Martin Gras. It is a proper 1980s powerhouse: a sharp green and pineapple opening, a thick honeyed floral heart, and a base of tobacco, oakmoss and patchouli that carries a long way. Loud by modern standards and not subtle, which is precisely why it still has a following. One or two sprays go a long way.

Heart: Honey, rose, jasmine, orris root, pine, petitgrain, caraway, lily-of-the-valley
Base: Tobacco, patchouli, oakmoss, sandalwood, amber, tonka bean, musk, cedar
How it wears
Bracing and almost medicinal on application, with pineapple and green herbs up front, before the honey settles in and gives it a warm, slightly waxy sweetness. The dry down is mossy and tobacco-tinged, and it stays close to that for the rest of the wear. Best in autumn and winter, and better for evenings than for close quarters at work.
Size and concentration
100ml (3.33 oz) Eau de Toilette spray. Eau de Toilette is lighter than Eau de Parfum, which makes it brighter on application and easier to wear in warm weather or at close quarters.
