Victoria's Secret Bombshell

Bombshell launched in 2010 and became Victoria's Secret's signature scent: passionfruit and citrus over vanilla orchid and peony, finishing on a pine base. It is bright, fruity and instantly recognisable, and it has since spawned one of the largest flanker families in mainstream perfumery.

The flankers are genuinely different fragrances rather than reformulations, and the names give very little away, so here is the short version.

• Intense swaps the citrus for cherry and red peony over vanilla. Sweeter and heavier than the original.
• Paris is the most grown-up of the set, opening on French cypress with jasmine and cedarwood rather than fruit.
• Midnight goes darker with black cherry, peony and blonde woods.
• Passion is built on cassis and rose.
• Escape brings guava and palm.
• St. Tropez opens on pineapple, and Amalfi on tangerine over driftwood.
• Soiree is a pear and peony holiday release.
